Senior Managing Director
L. Mercer Borden is a senior managing director of Third Lake. Mercer is responsible for business development and a member of the leadership team for Third Lake’s outsourced chief investment officer (“OCIO”) platform, delivering comprehensive and customized portfolio management solutions for clients.
Prior to joining Third Lake, Mercer served as managing director and senior vice president of Institutional Sales at Truist. At Truist, Mercer was responsible for working with the bank's institutional clients to create solutions in a fully discretionary framework within their OCIO platform. Over his tenure at Truist, Mercer was a member of a team responsible for overseeing a $10 billion client base. Before Truist, Mercer served as managing director at Man Group/Pine Grove Asset Management, where he was responsible for introducing the firm to pension fund consultants, institutions, and family offices, driving significant revenue growth and successfully expanding the firm's presence on approved consultant lists. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at K2 Advisors (acquired by Franklin Templeton), Optima Fund Management and Archstone Partners.
Mercer graduated from Whittier College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and earned his Master of Business Administration in Finance from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
