
Managing Director of Product & Distribution Strategy
Joshua Apfel is the managing director of product & distribution strategy of Third Lake. Joshua joined Third Lake in October 2025 and is responsible for capital formation, investor relations, and strategic partnerships across the firm’s alternative investment platform. In this role, Joshua leads Third Lake’s business development efforts with institutional investors, wealth management platforms, RIAs, and family offices, while also overseeing investor communications, marketing initiatives, and strategic platform development.
Prior to this, Joshua was a Director on the Private Credit team at Bow River Capital. He played a central role in launching the firm’s evergreen credit platform, building the platform’s investment processes and policies, and leading the strategy’s go-to-market execution. Joshua served as the product and portfolio specialist for the strategy and led capital formation efforts with high-net-worth and institutional investors. In addition to fundraising, Joshua was also responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing investments across a diverse set of industries, and supported strategic initiatives including Bow River’s joint venture with Thornburg Investment Management to expand distribution and enhance underwriting capabilities of the strategy.
Prior to joining Bow River, Joshua was a Vice President at Strategic Value Partners, LLC on the Business Development and Investor Relations team. During his time at Strategic Value Partners, Joshua served as a product specialist and portfolio expert, supporting global fundraising initiatives, leading high-net-worth and intermediary platform raises, and developing relationships with institutional investors and wealth management platforms.
Earlier in his career, Joshua was an Associate in the Restructuring Department at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he advised on complex in-court and out-of-court restructurings involving mid-sized and multi-billion-dollar companies.
Joshua received his J.D. from NYU School of Law and his M.S. in Accounting from the University of Florida. He was admitted to practice law in New York and passed the Certified Public Accountant examination in South Carolina.
